Tend your nervous system

Meet your touch needs

Tap into more vitality

with JoJo Phoenix Frank

Do you often feel lonely even when you are around others?

Would more safe, intimate, sensual touch improve your quality of life?

Does being in your body feel complicated or difficult?

Hi. I’m JoJo Phoenix or “JP”.

I’m here to hold you and help you grow.

Thank you for your curiosity. I hope you can stay with me while I explain the unique work we can do together!

This is not like conventional therapy. Here, our relationship is a space to experiment, learn, and practice being close and intimate, physically and emotionally.

We work up to the edge of your comfort without overwhelming your nervous system. This is the space where growth happens. Through the clear platonic container, I help you sense, value, and communicate your desires and boundaries. And, I offer consensual touch and spacious, calm attunement when emotions surface.

Touch and closeness are where most of us have experienced rupture, so this can be scary. Touch is only incorporated if and when it feels right for you. I welcome you, brave one. Let me be your equally rooted and tender guide. Let’s do this courageous, transformative work together.

I have been guiding people in trauma-informed embodiment practices and consensual touch for over 10 years and have trained over 700 people in how to facilitate trauma-informed movement and embodiment spaces grounded in physiology and neuroscience.

“I came to JoJo Phoenix initially for help with healthy boundaries and self-advocacy. I received that and also learned how to listen to my body and create a deep sense of internal safety and acceptance. It’s not an exaggeration to say that it’s changed my entire life for the better.”

SOREN - client for 3 months

My job is to help you listen to your body and nervous system. My questions always seek to bring you closer to yourself, and you are invited to verbally share only when it feels therapeutic for you to do so.

Each session starts with a check-in, verbalizing our agreements (I will teach you these) and then I guide you in choosing how to start our session. The entire session is for you, it is all for you.

Our sessions do not need to include touch! We work from a point of connection and relating at the pace that best supports your nervous system. At times, we may practice stretching your capacity for connection without flooding your nervous system (overwhelming you). This is where growth happens.

Sessions including touch can include a wide range of platonic, consensual touch from holding hands, hugs, gentle massage, head rubs, to cuddling.

None of this can happen without knowing what our limits are. I am very clear in what I am and am not available for with you. And I bring equal parts tenderness and boldness to support you in meeting your edges and setting clear boundaries in our sessions and in your life.

A unique touch component

Just as touch (and lack thereof) can be a source of hurt and harm, touch can be deeply nourishing and healing. Yet, there are very few therapies that holistically address the area of touch. By offering clients the unique opportunity to practice reciprocal, non-sexual touch, I support you in becoming more embodied, attuned, and skillful in navigating your and others’ limits and desires.

I travel nationally teaching a form called Contact Improvisation where people come together in a non-verbal container to play, express, and physically connect. Through this practice, and my training with Dr. Betty Martin, founder of the School of Consent, I have helped hundreds of individuals to become more skillful and comfortable with physical closeness.

The Logistics Part

I am based in Missoula, Montana. We can do great work in-person, over zoom, or on the phone.

All of my 1:1 and Couples work begins with three initial sessions called the Discovery Phase. During this time, we find out several important things:

  1. What are the primary areas you want to focus on/grow in? What impact will they have?

  2. Which of the many practices I offer are most resonant and compelling to you?

  3. Am I the best person to support you?

This Discovery Phase helps us determine if we’re a good fit, resulting in an outline of what longer-term work could look like. This way, you get a complete sense of how I work before either of us invest deeply.

Win-win.

I utilize a sliding scale based on ability to earn, inherit, and pay. This is a unique model and we will discuss it in your initial free 30 minute call.

Sliding scale: $70-$175 per 60 minute session
